Under this scheme, underweight pregnant and lactating women from below poverty line family and having weight less than 35 kg. are provided 6 kg. wheat per month free of cost for 6 months.

For this purpose in year 2002-03, Rs. 248.44 lac has been granted by Central Government. If the weight of the beneficiary increases then the supply stopped but if there is no substantial increase in the weight the supply is repeated next 6 months.

Entire expenditure on the scheme is borne by the Central Government and the wheat is allocated by food and civil supplies department.

In year 2002-03, 33576 beneficiaries find the benefit and expenditure was of Rs. 19.96 Lacs.
